I HEART DC

This is my latest creation for Stick it Down.  As I looked at the sketch, I instantly thought of all the pictures I've taken over the years of my annual trip to Washington DC.  I teach 8th grade, and every May, we take a group of students to DC to check out the sites, the museums, and then we head to Gettysburg, PA where the big Civil War Battle took place.  For this sketch, I used some of my favorite pictures I have taken over the years.  My absolute favorites are the top left hand smaller picture and the far right picture of my daughter's back.  The top left picture is a scene I caught at Arlington National Cemetery.  I heard the beat of a drum, looked up, and a funeral procession was going by.  It was one of the most humbling, beautiful sites I have ever seen.  The far right picture is my daughter looking at the names on the Vietnam Wall.  She was so serious trying to read the names and asking questions about this conflict.

FIRE GIRL

For this RCS challenge, the movie inspiration was the Sandra Bullock & Melissa McCarthy comedy, "The Heat."  The challenge was to make something where heat was involved in the layout.  Well, being married to a firefighter, let's just say I have a few pictures of my children hanging out on the firetrucks, trying on hats, and inspecting everything they can get their hands on at the fire house.  This picture was taken of my daughter two years ago wearing her Daddy's fire helmet.  I found this cute firetruck paper and decided it was the perfect way to make a heat inspired layout.

THERE IS NO BUNNY LIKE YOU

This was my latest creation for RCS.  The inspiration for this bi-weekly challenge was the movie "Hop."  I absolutely LOVE Russell Brand, adore Penny (AKA Kaley Cuoco), so I thoroughly enjoyed this movie!  So for this challenge, I decided raid my paper stash and use Jillibean Soup Spring/Easter paper I got last year along with these pictures of my daughter on her 2nd Easter.  (She was a newborn for her first Easter, so she didn't really do much but lay there in a pumpkin seat...).  She had a great time rummaging through her Easter basket.  I miss those little lady bug PJ's....But it was the bunny ears that sealed the deal for me to use these pics for the challenge.  If you want to play along, link up before Easter Eve (4/19), and you could win a gift certificate from our sponsor Molossi Spiel!

MY BIG GIRL

Hello!  I'm a little late posting this one for Child's Play Challenge.  You'd think being on Spring Break, I'd have oodles of time to get caught up...Not so much....Something seems to be going on every day. This layout is a crossover challenge between Child's Play and  Scrapstuffz.  Both of our blogs use pictures for inspiration.  Our inspiration for this project was the sand art pictured below.  I loved the colors in all the jars. The colors reminded me of this adorable Jillibean Soup birthday paper I got last week; especially that last jar of sand.  So, make sure to check out both of our blogs and if you are inspired, link up to both.  Great prizes are being offered from Scrapstuffz from Simple Stories and October Afternoon are being offered if you link up to this challenge.
